In the June State Budget announcement, the Pitt Town Bypass was mentioned by the Treasurer, Dominic Perrottet. He said:
“Our roads investment includes $3 million for the long-awaited Pitt Town Bypass to get the project shovel ready.
“This will enable us to progress a project which has been under consideration for more than 60 years and reduce heavy vehicles in the town centre so local streets can be returned to the community.
“It follows the preferred option for the bypass in March this year after extensive community consultation.”
The Progress Association has established a regular dialogue with senior staff at the Department of Planning & Environment and can report the following:
“The DP&E informed the RMS in April 2017 that developer contributions have been collected from Pitt Town for state infrastructure and requested that it formulate an infrastructure delivery plan for its expenditure. The RMS has now commenced the planning process.
In formulating the infrastructure delivery plan the DP&E has requested that RMS consult with Hawkesbury City Council and to consider the following infrastructure for which the local community has expressed significant concern:
• upgrades to intersections along Pitt Town Road;
• the widening of Pitt Town Road;
• the upgrade of the Mulgrave railway station car park;
• The Pitt Town Bypass.
The DP&E also plans to consult Hawkesbury City Council in relation to the boat ramp section of the Punt Road river access facilities.”
